The preparation and single crystal growth of bis(tetrabutylammonium)bis(4,5-dithiolato-1,3-dithiole- 2-thione)copper, (I), are described. The energy gap of (I) is about 2.38 eV. The nonlinear optical susceptibility is about 1.3x10-3 esu at 1064 nm. The characterization of (I) has been performed by electronic absorption, infrared and X-ray powder diffraction spectroscopy. The thermal behavior of (I) has been investigated by means of thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) measurements in air.
